Retirement

"I believe that all of us were placed here to serve a very special purpose, but not everyone is fortunate enough to stumble upon that special place early in life. I am one of the lucky ones, and I am very grateful for that gift."

During 2010, many of my dreams for WTO,I have come true. For that reason, I feel very fortunate to have chosen 2010 as the year to retire as the Executive Director of West Texas Opportunities, Inc. Having been married to an “old coach” for 48 years, I’m familiar with the term “retire from the team while you’re on top”.

This has been my home since the summer of 1966, and I have had many wonderful experiences during my tenure. I have met so many memorable people on my journey. I appreciate the many dedicated, caring people who make West Texas Opportunities, Inc. the best place in the universe to work, grow and experience the true meaning of our logo “better, brighter tomorrows”. I also appreciate the many great people who work for our funding sources, our vendors and most important, the clients that we serve.

I believe that all of us were placed here to serve a very special purpose, but not everyone is fortunate enough to stumble upon that special place early in life. I am one of the lucky ones, and I am very grateful for that gift. I have been allowed to grow with this job, which really is a rare opportunity. (Very few people are given 44 years to learn their job.) It has been trying at times, but that has made me stronger. I have witnessed sadness and tragedy, but that has made me more compassionate. Looking back, I might have done some things differently, but I would only do them differently at WTO,I.

It is with great sadness that I leave West Texas Opportunities, Inc., but I know that it is in good hands with Jenny. WTO,I will always be in my heart.
